Budding Energy
A member of our community blessed me with knowledge I want to pass onto you. Think of a plant, and how that plant moves across the seasons. Just as we feel the energetic change of seasons, where plants store energy depends on the season they are in. Right now in early spring, plants hold their energy in the buds. While the beginning bloom of buds may signal the start of something, cycles ask us to look deeper. Where would a circle start, and where would it end? Does the bud begin the cycle, or does the flower and leaves that store energy in the summer? Or maybe it’s the seed, where energy is stored in the fall. Or, could it be that the beginning of the plant is found in the roots, where energy lives in the winter? Sometimes our big ideas and dreams feel like they pop out of nowhere, like the first green buds to appear after a long winter. I wonder if our ideas and dreams come from seeds of our past, roots from our childhood.
A couple weeks ago, Bernie and I traveled for a week in the Southwest, watching winter fade into spring. We spent hours driving through desolate landscapes, watching tumbleweeds blow across lonely highways. In the vastness of the desert, I find my thinking is more clear and life seems simpler. Ideas and dreams that were long forgotten bubble back to the surface. I remember laying on my back in this deep Azul hotspring in the middle of freaking nowhere Nevada, staring up at the half-lit moon. Humbled by the smallness of my existence, I saw how my life could unfold. With only death as a certainty of living, how do I want to spend my drop of time on the planet? I see this community as the bud, the flower, the seed, and the roots. I realized my biggest dream is to share the peace I felt, floating in that Azul hot spring in the middle of nowhere Nevada, with others. This winter, I tapped into my roots. I grounded, stayed in more, and did less. I tried to rest and find comfort in simply being. That intentional downtime has led my heart and mind on a clear and focused path for the rest of 2024. I want to dream bigger than ever, and encourage you to take your budding energy and pour it into your big dreams too. I’d like to help you plan your next big adventure. Have something in mind?
